Sayeed tenure termed as golden era for SAARC CCI

Islamabad—The Business Community in South Asia has highly applauded the dedicated efforts of Mr. Tariq Sayeed for promotion of economic cooperation in South Asia during his term as the President, SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SAARC CCI) for the year 2008-09 and termed his tenure as the Golden Era of the history of SAARC CCI since its inception in 1993.

The dedicated services of Mr. Tariq Sayeed were acknowledged in the 47Th Executive Committee Meeting and 15th General Assembly held on 17th January, 2010 at Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mr. Annisul Huq, a leading businessman of Bangladesh and the President Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry has taken over as the President of SAARC CCI for the term (2010-2011). Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik, VP-SAARC CCI( Pakistan) will continue his present position for next two years.

The Private Sector of South Asia, representing all nations of SAARC greatly acknowledged the tremendous contribution rendered by Mr. Sayeed during his two year term as president of SAARC CCI. Mr. Bap Kinga, Vice President SAARC CCI (Bhutan), Mr. Abul Kashem Ahmed, VP-SAARC CCI (Bangladesh), Mr. M.K. Saharia, Mr. B.K. Bijoria, Executive Committee Members of SAARC CCI ( India), Mr. Pradeep Shreshta, VP-SAARC CCI( Nepal), Mr. Wikramanaekay, VP-SAARC CCI(Sri Lanka) and EC and General Assembly Members of SAARC CCI from Pakistan Mr. Fazal Elahi, Mr. Mansh Churra, Mr. Mumtaz Sheikh, Mr. Aftab Ahmed Barlas, Engr. Daroo Khan, Mr, Hameed Akhtar Chadda, Vice President, FPCCI and Mirza Abdur Rehman, GA Member, SAARCCCI and other member highly applauded the policy reforms taken by Mr.Tariq Sayeed, which have been instrumental to promoting economic cooperation in the region.

Mr. Tariq Sayeed also addressed the Life Members of SAARC CCI from Bangladesh as his last meeting in the capacity of President, SAARC CCI.

Later on the Presidency of SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry was handed over to Bangladesh in a grand ceremony organized by Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Mr. Annisul Huq, newly elected President of SAARC CCI showed a firm commitment to continue the mission of Mr. Tariq Sayeed to foster economic cooperation in the region. The grand ceremony was addressed by Chief guest H.E. Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Federal Minister for Finance, Government of Bangladesh, Governor of State Bank of Bangladesh. Diplomats from region of South Asia including Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan & Leading businessman from all over the region attended the hand over take over ceremony followed by dinner and cultural show.. A 27 member delegation from Pakistan attended the SAARC CCI Presidency Handover/ Takeover ceremony.
